The Rappahannock Relay for Life, an annual community event, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18 at the Rappahannock County Elementary School.
Tfeam registration begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday and closing ceremonies are at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
The Relay is an opportunity both to pay tribute to loved ones and friends who have struggled with cancer and to help fight a disease that claims so many lives.
By raising funds for Relay for Life, each individual is contributing to the American Cancer Society’s mission: preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from the disease.
All cancer survivors are urged to attend and be honored. There is no registration fee for cancer survivors and each will be given a “survivor” T-shirt.
This year survivors will be honored at the “Survivors” tent in front of the grandstand where refreshments will be served from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Look for the purple balloons.
Opening ceremonies will include special recognition for cancer survivors before the Relay begins.
After the survivors have been honored, the Relay walk begins as they take the first walk around the track.
