Spirit flight So dear friend of all whose heart you’ve touched and now whose spirit’s flown, we forever hold your words and deeds that have been so lovingly sown. Because you so loved your velvet hills and mustard fields and meads, we see your smile and warmth among each airborne downy seed. The four leaf clover hides your touch, your heart in new mown grass, your laugh among the gurgle in the streams that wind on past. Your presence sweet, will now reside within each lilac’s scent, your smile will shine with sunset’s glow, your memory never spent. The twinkle in your eyes reside within each shining star. So you see, Nature’s beauty will provide us all with you, just as you are. Cynthia Stamps This poem was written in honor of Barbara Way land, the late editor of the Rappahannock News who died on April 16.
