from life and exude the exhilaration the artist feels from being out of doors, trying to come to terms with the light and how it varies with seasonal and atmospheric changes. This show will include Stephens’ new large panoramic oil paintings as well as his smaller gems.
Stephens graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a double major in Fine Art and International relations. He received his Master of Fine Arts from James Madison University where he continues to teach Art, Drawing and Design. He is also the Elementary Art Specialist for Warren County Schools. Stephens is also one of the leaders and acting president of Middle Street Gallery, a cooperative gallery in Little Washington.
Stephens is a prolific painter and exhibits his work widely. In the past five years he has exhibited in solo and group shows in Philadelphia, Harrisonburg, Greensboro, Little Washington, Warrenton, High Point, N.C., and Bethesda, Md. Galleries in North Carolina, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia currently represent him and he is a regular exhibitor in Middle Street Gallery in Little Washington.
