Being an actress is hard work, demanding not only in terms of long hours and too little sleep, but meager recompense.

“Unless you are in a Broadway hit, or in the movies,” Johanna explains, “vgrestling with everyday life can be challenging. I’m trying to make ends meet, dream of buying my apartment in New York, and doing things I want to do within reason.

“Of course, everything deepens one’s appreciation of life’s experiences. And I am very happy.”

Even on a recent rainy Saturday afternoon, the play attracted a full house at Arena Stage. There are a string of adjectives to describe this play: “delightful, stimulating, modern, intellectual, clever satire, inspiring, and entertaining.”

This play has it all— led by Day, who The Washington Post said in a recent review, is “pitch-perfect” as Lyssa.
