Laura Compton

Born in Rappahannock

Laura Anna Butler Compton, 75, of Rixeyviile died on May 16 at her residence.

She was born April 1, 1928 in Rappahannock County to the late Willie Oscar Butler and Mattie Horton Butler.

Mrs. Compton was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, James Alvin Compton of Rixeyviile.

Additional survivors include two sons, James William Compton and Paul Fannon Compton, of Rixeyviile; one daughter, Donna C. Hitt of Rixeyviile; four sisters, Dorothy Dowdy, Corrine Scott, Mildred Jenkins and Jane Jenkins, all of Culpeper and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held May 19 at Clore-English Funeral Home in Culpeper with Rev. John Miller of Alum Spring Baptist Church officiating. Interment is private at Fairview Cemetery.

Michael S. Jones

Family in Washington

Michael Scott Jones, 28, of Stanley died May 15 in Huntly.

He was born Sept. 11, 1974 in Baltimore, Md.

Mr. Jones was a machine mechanic for eight years with Med State Electric Motors.

He was a member of Mt. Carmel Regular Baptist Church.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Nicole Leeanne Moore, two daughters, Sierra S. Moore, and Grace E. Jones of Stanley, and two sons, Joshua C. Jones of Washington and Colten G. Jones of Stanley.

Additional survivors include father, Dennis Wayne Jones, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and mother, Bonnie Carol (Cook) Laroque of Rixeyviile, and step father, Michael Laroque of Rixeyviile, one brother, Rodney W. Jones of Bogart, Ga. and one half brother, Sean Poe of Baltimore, Md.

A memorial service, conducted by Pastor Buddy L. Caviness will be held May 22 at 5 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Regular Baptist Church in Luray.
