If cleaning up the junk car problem on Route 211 is some kind of a final wish of Dr. Krebser's, it will not be an easy one to grant.
The issue is a touchy one for the Board of Supervisors. It > involves one of the county's most important institutions. The Rappahannock National Bank, and a prominent local businessman, Mike Brown of B & B Service Center in Sperryville.
The bank doesnt own the land where the old cars sit rusting. Brown does. Years ago. Brown's father owned the land which is now the site of the new bank building and the bank's proposed commercial center.
The Brown’s auto service business occupied that land, and many old vehicles were kept there. The fact that cars were stored at the site many years before 1986 raises the legal question of whether Brown is “grandfathered” under the law. The only part of the property that Brown now owns is onethird of an acre along the highway, where he keeps the scrap vehicles.
