The Department of Genera! Services is seeking candidates for this supervisory position within the Facilities Management Division. The work is to provide maintenance for County Facilities and directly effects the ability of the County to deliver programs and services. The position is responsible for overseeing and evaluating all building trades work performed by carpentry work crews. The successful candidate will possess an extensive and comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of the construction trades; building construction materials and methods; state/local laws applicable to construction, and of OSHA requirements and the International Building Code applicable to the construction trades; and a working knowledge of procurement policies. Must possess the ability to read and interpret blueprints and complex construction documents ancf provide accurate estimates. The successful candidate must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, contractors, and all County employees, and possess excellent written skills to prepare a variety of reports and documents. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associates Degree with course work in iob related field or graduation form a technical school, and a minimum of 4 years of experience supervision in the carpentry/ construction field. Prefer any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associates Degree and 8 years of progressive experience (*4 years minimum). Valid VA Driver’s license required.
