Special to the Rappahannock News j Beverly Massie was not surprised V when her husband, Jim, a long-time farmer in Rappahannock County, did not make it home in time for his regular 12:30 p.m. lunch one recent June afternoon.
At 1 p.m. she was still calm. Any anxiety she had seemed more related to their crop, than his tardiness. She knew he was racing, like other farmers, to get the season’s com planted before another wave of rain rolled in.
