off the back of a baseball card. But Dailey carries much more than a youthful exuberance for these planes and the miracle of flight.
Just six short months from now, this 69-year-old former U.S. Marine Corps fighter pilot will open the museum, inviting the public to walk alongside air and space craft that few have ever seen up close.
It is an experience more than 20 years in the making since Air and Space officials first realized they needed another facility to, showcase their vast collection of aviation artifacts— only 10 percent of which are on display at the flagship museum downtown.
“People tell me well need a full-time cardiologist on hand because of all the heart attacks people are going to have when they see this place,” said Dailey, who lives in central Fairfax.
