Franklin remained dedicated to those who were in need.
He considered his election to the Rappahannock County School Board as his quintessential achievement.
Our lives had another parallel other than political. We were baptized as members of the Baptist church, but later became Presbyterians. He became an ordained elder and years later I also became an elder.
Franklin and I remained in contact on a regular basis.
I was aware of his health problems, but I was shocked and saddened by his untimely death.
He was well aware of his health problems, but he never complained. He faced everyday with the expectation of infinite tomorrows.
Yes, I am in deep sorrow over the death of a life-long friend who was unquestionably one of my best friends.
All who knew him can attest to his greatness.
He will be greatly missed.
