Special musical program

Friends and neighbors are invited to a special music program on June 29 at Novum Baptist Church with the musical group “Joyful Heart” led by Nancy Norman with the assistance of April Kennedy and Scott Morgan.

Pastor Jeff Light, Rock Hudson and Madeline Jones will report on their mission trip to Slovakia.

The service will be followed by a covered dish lunch.

Novum Baptist Church is located in Madison County on Novum Church Road at the intersection of Routes 605 and 606. Mark your calendar now for the VBS dates: Aug. 11 -Aug. 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Workshop on bark

Artist Jeanne Drevas will conduct a workshop called “Conversations with Nature” on June 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. exploring the possibilities of manipulating bark, both white pine and tulip popular. The workshop includes stripping bark from a newly felled tree and creating objects with it. The cost is $50. Call 540-987-3113 or email caplin@summit.net to reserve a place.

RCHS class reunion

The Rappahannock County High School Class of 1958 will hold its 45th class reunion on June 29 at the Rappahannock County Recreation pavilion from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Graduates from 1951 through 1963 and their families are invited, along with any teachers of that time. Bingo at fire station

The Amissville Volunteer Fire & Rescue is requesting everyone’s support in weekly BINGO each Monday starting at 6:45 p.m. at the fire station.

Belly dancing offered

Tribal belly dancing classes with Charmaine Lee are held every Tuesday night through July 22 at the Washington Town Hall at 6 p.m. The cost is $60 for the senes of five classes and $15 per class. Please bring a mat. Call 987-8219 for more information.

How to protect the streams of Rappahannock County is the topic of a community education forum to be held Saturday, July 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Thornton River and Hearthstone School in Sperryville. A cookout barbeque follows. There will be a presentation and panel discussion by authorities on this topic.
