Harrison walked
from the top of the Washington Monument to the ground level. We would buy weekly street car passes and often ride for hours, traveling every line in the city. We also enjoyed sitting in Union Station for hours watching soldiers and sailors pass through during World War II.
Little did either of us realize that within less than a decade, both of us would be off to combat in the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the Army, Franklin decided to further his education.
It was during this period that he and I shared an apartment in Washington, DC.
It was a great educational experience to be around him after we became adults.
