country style food and a good atmosphere.” 4

The atmosphere, she acknowledges, still needs to be worked on. While the decor currently includes plain white walls with license plates around the top, Sekford says that she hopes to add decorations which will give the diner more of a country flair.

She explained that the diner is not fully decorated because she wanted to get it open as soon as possible. Sekford said she knew several people who were seeking employment and hurried to get the place up and running so they could have jobs.

This was no easy task, as the previous owners had left the location in utter disrepair, Sekford said, adding that the last restaurant to be located there was shut down by the health department.

“When I ‘came in to inspect the place I was shocked to see how it looked,” she said.

“It gave me cold chills,” she said, when she saw how unsanitary the location was.

Sekford and five helpers worked frantically to clean the place up, starting at six in the morning and working until eleven at night.
