Dr. Edward Whitfield Brown, 92, one of the county’s best-loved country doctors, died Sunday, July 2 at his home in Washington. Dr. Brown came to Rappahannock County in 1888 during the horse and buggy days to begin the practice of medicine. He was more than just the family physician, he was a personal- friend of the family, willing to be of service at any hour of the day or night, ministering tp the needs of the sick alqpg the highways and byways in all kinds of weather. Dr. Brown was mayor of the town of Washington and one of the diredors of the Rappahannock National Bank.
Mac’s Place in Washington and Buck Brown’s Highway Garage, about two miles from Washington on the Spenyville Road, were entered late Saturday night and robbed.
