To earn the Gold Award, Giles had to prove her leadership abilities by designing and carrying out a plan of activities that included community service, career exploration and specialized interest projects.
Giles completed a special project to meet the requirements for volunteer community service. For her Gold Award service project, Giles organized a school supplies drive to meet the needs of foster children who are removed from their homes on an emergency basis and are lacking the necessary tools for school.
