Claim agent visits

Virginia Department of Veterans Affairs Claim Agent Walt Phillips will visit the Culpeper office of the Virginia Employment Commission on Tuesdays, July 15 and July 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to assist military veterans with Federal Veterans Affairs forms. The Culpeper VEC office is located at 529 Meadowbrook Shopping Center. Veterans needing to contact Phillips before his visits can call 800-925-0640.

Air quality seminar

Shenandoah National Park continues its Field Seminar Series on Saturday, Aug. 9 with a daylong seminar about “Air Quality." On some days poor air quality makes it difficult to enjoy the panoramic views of Skyline Drive. Park rangers and scientists will lead discussions and hands-on outdoor exploration, including a visit to the park's air monitoring and data collection facility. The cost, is $30. ‘Our stream treasures'

How to protect the streams of Rappahannock County is the topic of a community education forum to be held Saturday, July 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Thornton River and Hearthstone School in Sperryville. A cookout barbecue follows. There will be a presentation and panel discussion by authorities on this topic.

Karaoke Night July 10

The Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Fair will host a Karaoke Night, “Culpeper Idol," on Thursday, July 10 from 7-11 p.m. The fair is held at the Culpeper Enterprise on Route 29 just south of Culpeper.
