Wrestling team dinner
The Rappahannock County High School wrestling team will hold a dinner and auction on Saturday, Jan. 17 in the RCHS commons. The five course dinner is $15 per person and will start at 5 p.m. Dessert only is $5 and will be served at 6 p.m. The auction, which consists of the wrestlers, their coaches, and items donated from local businesses, will begin at 6 p.m. Dinner and dessert is being donated by Chef Chris. Come out, support the high school wrestling team and win a wrestler for a day.
Martin Luther King
The 13th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., celebration will be held Sunday, Jan. 18 at The Theatre on Gay Street in Washington at 4 p.m. The program features the first MLK “DreamKeeper" Award for a community leader who typifies the ideals for which Dr. King stood.
The celebration is co-sponsored each year by the Theatre and the Julia E. Boddie Scholarship Committee. Guest speaker is Dr. Hortense B. Hinton, a native of Culpeper County and acting Vice President, Academic and Student Services at Northern Virginia Community College's Alexandria campus. ,
Hinton is a former member of the faculty at the University of Virginia and formally the Dean of Students at Germanna Community College. Local musicians will also be featured. William Spencer, Director of Fairfax County's Office of Equity Programs returns as master of ceremonies.
