Dr. Young taught pastoral psychiatry at the Virginia Theological Seminary and gave seminars for the Washington School of Psychiatry. He served as an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the George Washington University School of Medicine and at the University of Virginia schools of medicine and nursing. He also made time for teaching programs at Operation Headstart in Northern Virginia.
After moving to Rappahannock County in 1974, Dr. Young became the medical director of the RappahannockRapidan Mental Health Center as well as maintaining his priJ vate practice. He joined the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection and from 1984-1994, he was Chairman of the Board of the Rappahannock Public Library and guided the development of the new buildine.
