On Nov. 14, Carter wrote to Sherertz reporting two alleged delays in dispatching, one which drew a complaint from a resident who said it took “15 minutes to respond to his call for help when he was less than a mile away from the station.”
Sherertz said he is investigating the three concerns. He said that repairs at the sheriff’s department caused an electric outage that may have disabled the taping system and he is studying tapes provided by the 911 coordinator. Carter said in his letters he was awaiting these reports.
The Amissville fire department, Carter said in an interview, responds to both fire and rescue assignments in Culpeper and Rappahannock and uses Channel 33.82 so it can hear both calls.
The Rappahannock sheriff s dispatcher has to send the call to Amissville from the Rappahannock County channel, he said.
