The voter turnout in Rappahannock County Tuesday for Virginia’s first Democratic primary since 1988 would make Uncle Sam proud.

Rappahannock outvoted not only its neighbors in the region but also the state as a whole as U. S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) trounced his Democratic rivals, winning big in Rappahannock and every region in the state.
Some 12.97 percent of registered voters in Rappahannock went to the polls while less than 10 percent of registered voters in neighboring counties and across the state turned out to vote, according to unofficial election results. Voter turnout
