Satisfactory completion of the course, he said, gives the dispatcher a “certificate” for two years. The training can be updated with a CD-Rom program. The certificate, Sheehan said, “means PowerPhone will stand behind that dispatcher.”
Sherertz said the course cost $478 for two persons and the expenses of sending the deputies to Williamsburg. He said the two deputies were “very impressed” by what they had learned.
The sheriff reviewed his plans last week in a meeting with fire officials and county supervisors at the Fire Levy Board. Amissville Fire Chief J.B. Carter, Jr., who wrote several letters complaining about dispatch difficulties said it was a step in the right direction.
