other natural materials, Drevas creates pieces that are often sensitive, intriguing, sensual and always fascinating.
As she explains, “I see all their treasures and want to build with them, honor them, just play with them. I am a bird and squirrel building nest, spider spinning web. I cut up the tree in various ways sometimes leaving part of the tree intact and sometimes painstakingly prying bark from around branches. I am fascinated by the history that is left on bark; its scars and branch holes, this thin protective skin. I want to honor this abundance that resides outside my door.”
Drevas’ work has been exhibited extensively across the country since the 1970s. Recently she exhibited in the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts in Farmville, Va., “Crafts National 37” in State College Pennsylvania where she won an award of merit, and “Fiberart International
