“Were always concerned with a big development just across the border,” said John McCarthy III, Rappahannock's county administrator. “Culpeper's been very good about keeping us informed as a friendly gesture. I think they’re managing it pretty well, compared to what Centex first proposed."
Rappahannock's main concern could end up being its landfill, which sits much closer to the Clevenger site than Culpeper’s landfill in the southern part of the county.
“A lot of folks find it easier to go to our landfill than theirs,” McCarthy said.
“It will also have a lot of impact on our fire and rescue services,” he said, pointing out that Rappahannock’s Amissville station handles most emergencies in that area now.
