Members of the Water and Sewer Authority considered what to do about what they see as increasing problems with sewage in the county.
Chairman Eugene Leggett said the county needs to do a study on the waste disposal needs of the county now and what they are likely to be in the future. He said an engineering study of how those needs can be met would be the next step. Member Charles K. “Pete” Estes noted that the school system will have to have a package treatment plant for the elementary school by 1997 and that the School Board is investigating the cost of a 15,000-gallon system to handle just the elementary school, a 25,000 gallon system that could handle both schools, and a 50,000-gallon system that could handle a third school or that the county could reserve part of for the general commercial district.
A 25-caliber semi-automatic weapon was taken from a 12-year-old girl at Rappahannock County Elementary School last Thursday. The girl, a student at the school, also had with the weapon a clip with two bullets in it. The clip was not in the gun. Rappahannock Sheriff John Henry Woodward reported that the girl had apparently also brought the gun to school Wednesday and showed it to other students on the ride home.
