May Day celebration
A Thousand Faces Mask Theatre group located in Castleton will perform “A May Day Celebration” on Tuesday, May 1 with a Drumming group led by Wendi Sirat. There will be two performances: one at 12 noon in the fields of Waterpenny Farm in Sperryville as part of its spring plant sale, and again at 1:30 p.m. on the lawn behind Sperryville Pottery and Blueridge Artisans. Everyone is welcome.
Lions Club auction May 1
Lions Club President Tom Tepper asks county residents to support the Annual Lions Club Auction to be held at Bill Payne’s Auction Barn on May 1 at 5 p.m. All proceeds support community activities that help those that need it most. The club is soliciting donations of furniture, tools, glassware, collectibles and other merchandise, suitable for resale, to be auctioned. Culinary gala
“Funds for the Hood," a culinary arts gala, will be held at Oasis Vineyard at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 22 to raise funds for a commercial exhaust hood for the culinary arts program at Rappahannock County High School. Sponsored by Oasis Vineyard and Griffin Tavern, the seated dinner will showcase the cuisine of Rappahannock’s finest student-chefs and world-class restaurants, featuring locally-grown ingredients and a..carefully selected array of acclaimed local wines. Head Start program
Applications for the 2004-2005 school year are being accepted for the Skyline CAP Head Start preschool program at the Child Care and Learning Center for three and four year olds. Children must be at least three years of age by Sept. 30, 2004. This is a free program for income eligible families in Rappahannock County. For more information, call Becky Thorpe at 675-1317.
