He told the young nurse he was awake and she could loosen the straps. She began to cry, finally blurting out that he was paralyzed, "for life.” Skinner has no control of his arms, hands and legs and his physique has shrunken within the chair.
Skinner said he is now “completely dependent on other people for my survival, " he said. They have to feed him and dress $im. "It stinks, man. It stinks!”
Now. four years later, Skinner travels Virginia trying to help other youngsters avoid the tragedy that befell him. He is married and his young wife accompanied him on his visit here.
