The group brainstormed about concepts associated with cancer and cancer survival. Then, they developed images to go with the concepts. Finally, with a great deal ,of Reisler’s help, they put together the words, while he developed the music. The title of the new song is “I’ve Got to Live.”
Lorraine Duisit will lead a group of survivors singing the new song during the Luminaria Ceremony at the Relay for Life.
Relay for Life is a way to honor cancer survivors and to remember those who have lost the battle against cancer. It is also the major fund-raiser of the Rappahannock County, Board of the American Cancer Society.
The Relay opens as cancer survivors walk, run, or wheelchair the first lap in celebration of their victory. All cancer survivors in the community are invited to register to attend by contacting Carolyn Leake, the Survivor’s Walk Chairperson at 635-2073. Registration may be made in advance or at the relay.
In the luminary ceremony, luminaries line the track after dark to remind participants of loved ones who are being honored or remembered. Luminaries may be purchased from Mary Ann Krammes, 75 Round Hill Road, Boston, Va. 22713 for $5 each. (Please make check payable to the American Cancer
