The “saga" of Amy Hitt
should not be considered a “saga" in any way, shape, or form. The articles in The Washington Post and Rappahannock News would lead one to believe that the Amissville Baptist Church had completely gone off the deep end in its actions regarding Mrs. Hitt’s behavior and should be scorned and possibly reported to the American Civil Liberties Union.
Alas, church discipline is nothing new, unique, judgmental, or unusual at all. 1st Timothy 5:13 condemns those who are idle and learn to go about from house to house: and are not only idle, but tattlers also, and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
While I have never set foot in the Amissville Baptist Church and most likely never will, the deacons of the church were justified in their action and following very clear New Testament teachings and doctrine.
