Johnny Jenkins’ parents have no illusions. They don’t expect that same miraculous healing to come from their son’s dolphin swim.

“We know it’s no miracle. We just want Johnny to have the joy of being with those beautiful creatures,” said Michelle. “When our son was born, the doctors gave him one day to live, and he’s now 11. So we’ve already had ope miracle.”

And neither does Island Dolphin Care put forth claims for miracle cures. In fact, the non-profit organization’s literature emphasizes again and again that families should arrive with realistic goals and expectations. The dolphinassisted therapy session is described as a “unique, motivating recreational experience, which brings joy and laughter to children and their families.”
