The “Auction of Golden Opportunities” at Headwaters’ “Taste of Rappahannock” fundraiser may be short—only four items—but it is sure to be fabulous.

Besides dinner with Jim Lehrer, well-known host of “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer,” and his wife, the award-winning novelist Kate Lehrer, those attending the Taste on Sept. 11 at Belle Meade may also bid on a portrait drawing by Ned Bittenger, renowned portrait painter and former Rappahannock County resident.

Bittenger, who is moving back to the central Virginia area, has painted such noted individuals as Mrs. Henry
