Students of Rappahannock County High School, teachers, and local farmers and community members are preparing for the second great season of the Farm-to-Table Program.
In January 2004, with generous support from the Cole Family Foundation and a number of community growers with backgrounds in education, the Farm-to-Table Program was launched as a partnership with Headwaters, the Rappahannock County Education Foundation.
With plans on the drawing board to re-establish a Future Farmers of America chapter supported by the Bill Young Memorial Fund, the future looks very bright for Rappahannock’s youth to learn important lessons and skills about sustainable agriculture in the county - both its past and its future.
Farm-to-Table grew into a fun and challenging project for students in David Naser and Karen Alexander’s horticulture class last semester. Within four months, students had built 13 raised beds, planted over 60 trees on the high school grounds, grew lettuce, herbs,
