Early Christmas
present
An early Christmas present came for Amber Dodson of Sperryville. She was the lucky winner of the drawing at the post office for the big plush dog named Nina on Thursday, Dec. 20.
Birthday wishes go out to Joshua Alther of Washington. He will celebrate his day on Sunday, Dec. 30.
Before that and after, two of our own staffers have December birthdays. Staff writer Kevin Allen celebrates his birthday on Saturday, Dec. 29.
Bringing in the New Year, editor Anita Sherman turns another year older on Dec. 31.
Shifting sheriffs
Sheriff Larry Sherertz will retire after serving two terms and Sheriff Connie Compton Smith will assume her new office on January 1, 2008.
