end there, of course. In October we discovered that we both were going to be in Texas at the same time on similar family errands. As it turned out, we both were going to be in Laredo at the same hotel and on the same dates! More serendipity.

Since we had traded photographs over the past few months, we quickly recognized each other as we met in the courtyard of La Fhsada Hotel, .Jbpneriy an old Spanish convent overlooking the Rio "Grande. The woman I came to know, far the second time, reminded me of my old movie flame, Audrey Hepburn but with red hair—petite and charming, poised and sophisticated, and incredibly versed in a thousand different subjects. No wonder, as she proudly told us with a wink, “My husband.. . is madly in love with me!” We certainly could see why

Jean joined my twin brother, Roy and my younger brother; Fred, in the dub room of the hotel along with two other Laredo friends as we talked for hours into the night, remembering old friends and things we did so many years ago. Before we left, we dedded to have breakfast together the next morning before we drove back to San Antonio to catch our plane home. This chance meeting was the highlight of an unexpectedly pleasure-filled weekend in my old hometown.

I am fully confident that this story will continue with more chapters to be written. It reminds me of how small the world is, and how interconnected we all are. By the way Jean chose two photographs of Rappahannock County for her and her husband’s offices. And all this was matte possible through the Internet and its incredible power to reach and bring people together.
