The Great Meadow Foundation Board of Trustees has accepted the resignation of Leslie VanSant as its president and chief operating officer, effective Jan. 4,2008.

The trustees also accepted her offer to continue in a volunteer capacity during the transition of her work with the Great Meadow staff until a qualified replacement is found over the next several months.

VanSant is returning to a career in international humanitarian relief- She will join a nearby firm, Global Emergency Group, based in Bluemont, Va., which provides consulting services, including training and response and readiness, to humanitarian organizations and others in this work, including the International Red Cross where she worked in Washington before coming to Great Meadow in 2002.

Meeting with her during the board’s annual meeting last Friday, the trustees expressed “warm gratitude for her immense contribution over the past six years to the successful growth of Great Meadow, now into the 25th year of its mission in open space conservation and community service with youth activities and national level sporting events, such as the Virginia Gold Cup, International Gold Cup and.
