2007 has achieved infamy status in our household. It has not been the best of the years for us, however you look at it. We had to euthanize two dogs and one cat this year. The piece of the economy that allows me to earn a living went to hell in a handbasket and then some! We had intractable plumbing problems, appliance breakdowns, lawnmowers that should be used as boat anchors and automotive challenges. In short, let me say to 2007, don’t let the door hit you in the rear end on the way out!

Needless to say, we’re welcoming 2008 with open arms at our house! And since we’re already anticipating a wonderful new year, I thought I’d provide future laughs for you all by prognosticating a bit. So, here are my predictions both personal and for our larger community for 2008. Be sure to pull them out next year at this time to laugh at how badly wrong I was.

There will at some point this winter be enough snow for sledding and enough ice on the snow that only the truly insane or the children will dare to try.

No one will drive a pickup truck through the front doors at Hackleys.

One of our appliances will need to be replaced.

South Foes Road will become either a mud hole, an ice covered death trap or closed because a tree falls across it. I get bonus points if
