Everyone on stage last Friday had at one point sat in the auditorium chairs before them. The 12 recent Rappahannock County High School grads were back at their alma mater — most home from college for winter break — to offer advice and inspiration to the rows of students who would soon be facing the same questions they had faced.
The message was dear Go to college; you can do it.
For an hour, freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors at Rappahannock high school heard 12 first-hand accounts of college life. The students listened to experiences and inswfo tips, and even received fingerwagging warnings about partying too much.
Even though many of the alums had only a few years of college under their belts, they offered sage advice.
“...by putting... alums from Rappahannock on the stage and showing the audience, you know, these guys did it, you can do it too, I think the experience of it will be more effective than just talking to them about going to college,” said Miranda Hope.
