Rappahannock County School Superintendent l>r. Robert Chappell announced a proposed $446,381 — or 5.39 percent — increase in county funding for education on Tuesday.
Chappell presented his proposed education budget for the coming fiscal year to the school board, highlighting an expected decrease in state and fed eral funds. To make up for the losses in revenue. Chappell proposed an increase in the local taxpayers' share of the budget.
The total budget, however, is $502 less than the current year's, bucking a long trend of increasing expenditures.
