Sallie Norman Hawkins, 102, of Culpeper died Sunday, Feb 17, 2008 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 18,1905 in Rappahannock County to the late William and Mollie Norman.
Mrs. Hawkins was a past member of Five Forks Baptist Church in Woodville and was currently a charter member of Bible Baptist Church in Culpeper. She enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook.
She is survived by her children, Paul D. Hawkins and his wife, Linda of Virginia Beach, Marvin L. Hawkins of Culpeper, and Thelma Ruth Hawkins of Culpeper, and eight grandchildren.
Additional survivors include 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Franklin Hawkins, three sons, William Hawkins, Richard Hawkins, and Edward Hawkins, five sisters, three brothers, and three grandchildren, Paul Daniel Hawkins, Jr., Rebecca Leigh Hawkins, and Mitzi Dawn Hawkins, and a daughter-in-law, Wanda Diane Hawkins.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, Feb. 21, at Bible Baptist Church with her son Dr. Paul Hawkins officiating.
A private family interment was followed.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Brian Aylor, Clay Barker, Michael Aylor, Daniel Ferlazzo, Keith Barker, Andy Art, Daniel Norman, and Mark Hawkins.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Bible Baptist Church, 1121 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
