The school board's Jackson District representative Wesley Mills said he sympathized with citizens who would like to see their taxes cut.
“I know our people me hurting with the tax burden being levied on them." he said.
But Mills expressed concern about what would happen if the school budget were slushed. He said the schools would offer bare minimum education, and those students who could afford to leave would enroll in other schixils.
“We re just trying to make sure our students are competitive with their contemporaries," he said.
