“Since we have such a small school division, we have all the services that a larger school system would have,” Blair said. “There’s no way we could maintain our current level of services to the students without the costsharing agreement. It really is salvation for this division.”
Highland piggy-backs on the neighboring county’s teacher training sessions, and the two districts share a school psychologist, Blair said. Blair is also looking into an agreement in which Highland would use Augusta’s bus mechanics for repairs.
Sharing services helps cut costs for the 271-student school district, Blair said.
“Those kind of things really help us out,” he said. “It really is a legitimate cost savings to us.”
