Join Piedmont Environmental Council and the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection for the Third Annual Wildlife Habitat Open House on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m., to 3:30 p.m., at the Rappahannock County High School. The event features more than a dozen government and nonprofit conservation organizations ready to answer habitat questions. The public is invited to attend free of charge the annual Rappahannock Lions Club James A. Bland Music Contest on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m., at the Theatre in Washington. The judged contest for vocalists and instrumentalists is exclusive for county students and residents in grades 1-12. Calling all Cool Cats and Hot Kitties to a poetry coffeehouse featuring Rappahannock poets Ray Holland, Sherrie Holland, Carol Quaintance and Elizabeth Eisenhauer.
