We talked for awhile before she asked me to cover the celebration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at The Theatre up the street that afternoon. I had to think on it for a little while. I told her I would, but I knew it was not my cup of tea.
Guess I have to say that over the years my beliefs were always to socialize with your own color of race. More or less that’s what I did. I had told Mary Ann a little about that before.
On my walk to the The Theatre, I did not want to go to cover it at all. I almost went back to the office and told Mary Ann, “Hey, this is not for me. If you want it covered, then do it yourself.”
