The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection (RLEP) and the Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance (RCCA) recently mailed to us a beautiful booklet published by the Rappahannock County administration.
It contains Chapter Six of the County Comprehensive Plan (goals, principles and policies) and invites us to review it in preparation for the 2010-2012 revision process. Both the content and the amazing photos by Gary Anthes and Mara Seaforest invite us to really become involved in the process that is so vital to preserving the beauty of Rappahannock County.
If you did not receive a copy, be sure to pick up one from John McCarthy’s office. It is thoughtful planning that has preserved the bucolic beauty that surrounds us.
I must admit that I chuckled at #6 on Page 9 that asks that in transportation projects consideration be given to “alternative means of transportation including bicycles and horses.” Shall I sign up now for riding lessons from Moody Aylor?

On Saturday, Jan. 17, Casey James Matthews, weighing in at 7 pounds 10 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches, joined our Sperryville community.
His mom, Ashley, is the executive director of the Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance and dad Jamie, a full-time fireman in Arlington, is also a volunteer with the Sperryville Volunteer
