The Inaugural luncheon is offered to the new president just after his swearing-in and before the Inaugural parade, by both parties of the Senate. The tradition extends back over 130 years, according to Slowik.
At the luncheon, the Chamber Players performed a mixture of American music written for the early presidents (with titles like “George Washington’s Triumphal Entry into Trenton” and “Menuet Danced Before Mrs. Jefferson”) and more urbane European sonatas (of Corelli, Purcell, and Handel) from the music library of Thomas Jefferson.
For the concert at The Theatre in Washington, Va. tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students 18 and under. To make reservations or for further information phone (540) 675-1253 or email TheatreVA@aol.com.
