Cammy Clark, a 12- yearold clarinet student, expressed an enthusiastic reaction to the outreach workshop offered Sunday by the Amstel Quartet at Castleton Theatre to 28 Rappahannock public school band students.
“Awesome! I never heard anything like that.” she said. “It was really different music. It makes me want to work harder to make my music better.”
Thanks to the generosity and planning efforts of the Chateauville Foundation, students, teachers, bus drivers and parent chaperones alike experienced an afternoon that introduced them to the intricacies of soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones and to a variety of composers.
