noon was the presentation of awards by Nan Butler Roberts for the Student Essay Contest. Students had been asked to participate in an essay competition in celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. The theme was “Remember, Celebrate, Act: A day on, not a day off”
Melissa Delcour, a Rappahannock County High School English teacher, had her 10th and 11th grade students enter the competition and the results are: First place Danika Kritter 10th grader; Second place Tiffany Wayland 10th grader; Third place (tie) Krista and Ashley Riggleson 11th graders.
Honorable Mentions were awarded to: Jacob Williams 11th grader; Amanda Leigh Phillips 11th grader; VanChessca Allen 12th grader at Eastern View High School in Culpeper.
