In the swine-breeding experi ments, recurrent reciprocal selec tion involves four successive steps; (1) crossing, at definite intervals, two strains of hogs that are known to combine well; <2» testing the cross-progeny for economically im portant characteristics; <3* reten tion in the two strains of breeding animals that are proved best by the performance of their test-cross progenies; and «4i propagation of the two strains, using the animals thus selected.
