This infamous Burkism. by a Dracon ian Code, compells northerners like this writer to look beyond the borders of their native state for a'd. comfort and hope from other states who share their beliefs and convictions. We made an effort last November 6th to make our selves heard at the polls by a write in vote, but we might as well have attacted Oak Ridge with a putty blower —■ our votes were thrown out. The March 19th issue of The Farmville Herald was of particu lar interest in that it carried a very heartening news item on the front page captioned 'Defenders To Hold State Convention March 22-23rd" and the editorial on page four titled “Investigating Organi zations.” by Mr. J. B. Wall was a most satisfying and worthwhile piece of reading. God bless him for such forthrightness. There is no better way to know a section of country and its peo ple than by taking its local news paper. I was never South or in the State of Virginia but since taking The Farmville Herald I feel like I have met and know many of its good people.
