Truck Driver Gives False
Report Of Robbery
Russell George Bowser, 30, of Middletown, who' turned in a false alarm in order that he might get his name in the paper, was fined $50.00 and costs and given a twelve-month suspended jail sentence, after being tried before. Trial Justice B. M. Miller on Friday. He claimed tnat he had been beaten up and robbed Wednesday afternoon, April 12, by two men near Flint Hill.
The county police force, three State police cars and a pack of bloodhounds answered the alarm from Bowser. His feed truck, which was investigated on the roadside by the police was found to have two bullet holes in it. A .38 caliber revolver was also discovered on a neaiby embankment.
After being questioned for two hours, Bowser finally confessed to turning in the false report, because he “wanted to get his name in the paper.’’
Prior to his hearing at the Trial Justice Court on Friday,' Bowser was held on a grand larceny charge after police found $10G.30, which they said he had collected for the Millbrook Milling and Feed Company, wrapped in paper and hidden under the dashboard.
