School Board Agrees
To New Salary Scale
In response to requests from teachers, the school board in a meeting last night in the Courthouse in Washington agreed to the changed teacher salary schedule as set up by the state salary fund. This new salary schedule places certificates and years of experience ( up to six years) at $1800 and $2000.
Appointments of many teachers were recommended and approved, but appointments of some were deferred until a schedule for all classes in the new consolidated high school was arranged. Thi* would allow better choice after the number of classes to be taught was known.
A discussion of the condition of several busses brought out that at least one new bus was needed, but it was hoped that the session could be finished with the present equipment.
A petition for transportation for colored pupils living in Harris Hollow was presented by A. M. Hickman. These pupils at present are receiving payment in lieu of transportation and the request for their transportation is to be given further study.
BUFFET SUPPER
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lyne entertained jointly at a buffet supper at the Johnson home Saturdayevening honoring Miss Anna Bragg Brown and Rev. A. Paul Thompson whose wedding will take place Saturday, April 29.
Shiloh Baptist Meeting
There will be an executive meeting of the Shiloh Baptist Association, Saturday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Culpeper Baptist church.
All pastors of the association, and members of committees are urged to be present.
